About Me

Where should I being with this About Me page? Hmmm...

Let's go back to 1998. That's when my wife and I started learning Mandarin Chinese.

That was a lot of fun!?

In 2000, at the suggestion of a friend who'd already been there, we took a 3-month sabbatical to Taiwan, in order to get immersed in a completely Mandarin speaking environment. 

And we fell in love with the people of Taiwan, decided to move there, and by September 2001 we were settled in the southern Taiwanese city of Tainan. 

We spent 5 incredible years in Taiwan, the first 3 were in Tainan and the last two in GaoXiong. 

From there we headed to Guangzhou, China's 2nd largest city of 22 million people. It's in the south of China, not too far from Hong Kong and Shenzhen. 

It was there that we started TW Allison, a consulting and training company. Our clients were large multi-nationals, like HSBC, Mattel, Timberland, Under Armour, Capgemini, Maersk, MeadJohnson, Swarovski, Australia National Bank, PwC, and many more to list here. 

While were running our company, I got involved in a project for Johnson & Johnson Vision Care with a U.K. - based consulting and training company called OTD. They brought me on to the project because they needed a  coach/trainer who could speak fluent Mandarin & English. 

That project involved training the entire APAC Vision Care sales & marketing team in the Eight Step Coaching Model (CMOE) and also training the J&J Vision Care reps in their Eye To Eye Selling Model

That project took me all over China, as well as to Singapore and Vietnam. 

Then in 2014, after 13 years in Greater China, we decided it was time for a change, and that change took us to Frankfurt, Germany.

OTD took over our office in Guangzhou, as well as our clients, and off we went to enjoy the European experience. 

While in Germany, I continued to freelance with OTD, and worked on some great projects that took me to Seoul, Taipei, Singapore, Rome, Stockholm, Madrid, London, Prague and Moscow, and included working with teams from J&J Vision Care, Essilor, Bayer and Merck.

And now, after 15+ years living and working outside of Canada, in March 2017 we returned to my hometown of Winnipeg, smack in the middle of Canada. 

I have continued to work with OTD on some projects with Essilor, J&J Vision Care, Under Armour, and Mölnlycke.

And it's great to be back in Canada, especially to be near my parents, both of whom are now in their early eighties. They're happy we're back here too. 

So, that's just a little about me, that I thought you'd find interesting. 

And in case you're wondering, I'm a CMOE Certified Eight-Step Coaching Model coach/facilitator. 

I'm also a Licensed NLP Business Practitioner.
